The University of Wisconsin–Madison Database Group is an academic data management research group. It is currently led by Professors Jeffrey Naughton, Jignesh M. Patel, AnHai Doan, Christopher Re and David J. DeWitt (Emeritus).
The group is known for its pioneering contributions in the areas of parallel databases, database benchmarking, deductive databases, query optimization, object-relational databases, data mining, stream databases, XML databases and web information management.
Its alumni have gone on to distinguished careers in the data management field in both academia and industry, including the University of California-Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Facebook, Google, HP, IBM, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Oracle, and Yahoo.
